Majority of patients referred to our office for consultation come with problems related to

evacuating difficulties. This page is intended to familiarize you with you visit.
Please, come to your appointment with a moderately full bladder. It is best not to have
emptied your bladder for at least 2 hours before your appointment, if that is at all possible.
Evaluation starts with meticulous history taking and reviewing any available previous medical
records such as operative reports, tests results, and etc. followed by thorough urogynecologic
and pelvic examination. Then you will be provided with detailed explanation of possible reasons
for development of your problems and if necessary diagnostic work up as well as management
options.
Some patients will require a second visit to complete the urogynecologic evaluation to
understand your problem better and offer you most appropriate treatment plan. For patients
with urinary incontinence it includes Urodynamic Testing and/or
Cystoscopy if needed. For
patients with fecal incontinence Ano-Rectal Manometry, Pudendal Nerves Motor Latency Study
and Ano-Rectal Ultrasound as needed. Only if required patients with bowel evacuatory difficulties
and/or rectal prolapse might be referred for imaging studies such as, Barium Enema and/or
Defecography as well as Colon Transit Time. Click on each test to find out more about these
diagnostic modalities.
